New and Improved “New Books” Lists Available

Thursday, December 6th, 2007 by Kitty Tynan

We’ve modified the programming “behind the scenes” of our monthly new book lists . Not only can you see what’s been added in a subject, you can click on the title and go directly to the catalog to see if the book is available before you come to Mullen. If a book you need is charged out you can place a hold on it (the person who has it can’t renew it and you’ll be notified that it is available to pick up) or a recall (the person who has it will be asked to return it and you will be notified when it is available). Or you can borrow it from another WRLC library (if it’s available). Ask at Circulation for more information about these options.

Changes coming to laptop loans

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 by Kitty Tynan

Starting in January 2008, there will be a change to the laptop borrowing policies at Mullen Library. Laptops will be loaned for a 4-hour period, rather than the current 2-hour loan period. No renewals will be allowed. If there are laptops available when you return yours on time, you may be able to borrow it for another 4-hour period. We are making this change - at the same time that we are adding new computers - to try to meet the increasing demand for laptops while also recognizing that two hours is not an adequate loan period. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact the Mullen Library circulation desk at 202-319-5060.

December 4 in Millennium North from 2:30 to 4:30

From 11:30 to 1:00 on December 5 in the Pryz (look for our table as you head for lunch)

and on December 6 from 2:30 to 4:30 in Flather.

There is a Librarian in the Dorm!

Friday, November 2nd, 2007 by Kitty Tynan

Starting the week of November 5, look for Librarians to visit the dorms to provide “on the spot” help with that research assignment. Tentative plans include Flather on Nov. 8 and Millenium on the 13th. South campus will be visited right after Thanksgiving.

Librarians will be in other campus buildings, too - wherever wireless connections are available.

Of course Librarians are always available in the libraries or via phone, email, or IM.
