New finding aid, collection guide for the papers of Bishop Charles W. Currier. He was a colorful figure, born in the West Indies to US and Dutch parents and affiliated with both NY and DC. He was a prolific writer and speaker once accursed of plagiarism by Lew Wallace (author of Ben Hur, gov of NM who hunted Billy the Kid, and Union General). Currier was also a great advocate of rights for Indians and a proponent of Pan Americanism. He served briefly as Bishop of Matanzas in Cuba.
