OLIVEIRA LIMA LIBRARY  – The University Libraries is pleased to announce the launch of Part II of Brazilian and Portuguese History and Culture: Oliveira Lima Library.  The new archive collection covers 1 million pages of book content sourced at the Oliveira Lima Library.  The new archive is an essential source for students, researchers, and scholars of Latin American history and European colonization of the New World.

Gale Cengage Learning has partnered with the Oliveira Lima Library to digitize their collection of rare and unique content to make it more accessible than ever to scholars from around the world.  This collection was originally the personal library of the Brazilian diplomat, historian, and journalist Manoel de Oliveira Lima.   The collection has long been regarded as one of the finest collections of Luso-Brazilian materials available to scholars since it provides valuable insight into colonialism, Brazilian independence, transatlantic relations, slavery and abolition, indigenous peoples, agriculture and trade, economic development, and more.  The collection focuses mainly on Brazil (approximately 70% of the sources) but also on Portugal (30% of the sources).  The majority of the sources are in Portuguese, but the collection also features content in English, Spanish, French, and other languages.
Parts I (pamphlets)+ II (monographs + rare books) are both available to the CUA community. A login is required to access material off campus.
