NEW TRIAL – The University Libraries has a trial for The Berliner Philharmoniker’s Digital Concert Hall through April 14. The Berliner Philharmoniker’s Digital Concert Hall video streams classical music concerts to your tablet, smartphone, smartTV or PC. Some events are also streamed live. The sound quality is similar to that of a CD and the picture quality similar to HD television. ONGOING TRIAL – The University Libraries has a trial for Architectural Digest Magazine Archive through May 4. Each issue in the Architectural Digest Magazine Archive is presented in its entirety, including the front and back covers and its high-quality photo spreads. All articles and advertisements have been indexed with subject terms to allow users to find relevant results quickly, as well as research and analyze trends in topics and advertising materials. With over 90 years’ worth of issues available, the Architectural Digest Magazine Archive is a valuable resource for everyday design enthusiasts, researchers of architecture and interior design and those interested in the history of business, advertising and popular culture. IRISH NATIONALISM EXHIBIT  – To mark the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising of 1916 in Dublin, Ireland, University Libraries will be presenting the exhibit “Sworn to Be Free: Irish Nationalism, 1860-1921.” On view in the May Gallery March – May 2016, this exhibit spotlights the many threads of Irish Nationalism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries that are preserved in the University Libraries’ collections. For questions or accommodations, contact Katherine Santa Ana at santaana@cua.edu.

SCI-FI CLASSICS FILM SERIES – Two films remain in the University Libraries’ three-part film series featuring science fiction classics. Join us  in the May Gallery the following Wednesdays at 7 pm for popcorn, soft drinks, and vintage cinematic wonder!

  • March 30: The Blob (1958) – cult classic of gooey greatness… helped launch the careers of Steve McQueen and composer Burt Bacharach, whose bouncy title song is just one of this film’s many unexpected pleasures
  • April 20: Solaris (1972) – a brilliantly original science-fiction epic that challenges our conceptions about love, truth, and humanity itself
