University Research Day 2023 Call for Abstracts

As a member of the 2023 University Research Day Committee, I would like to share the following announcement with you:

University Research Day at Catholic University is back! The deadline for abstract submission for University Research Day 2023 is Jan. 24, 2023.

All members of the Catholic University community are encouraged to share their work by submitting an application. Research has a broad meaning and can include anything that falls under ‘scholarly work.’ Some examples include:

  • a scholarly paper
  • a collaborative project with a faculty member
  • a recent presentation given at a professional meeting
  • a dramatic or musical performance
  • a display of art

URD will be in-person with in-person presentations and a poster session on our DC campus. All presentations will also be pre-recorded so that the global community can access them virtually. Remote students, faculty and staff (e.g., online programs, at the Rome Center, and Tucson) can participate in the virtual poster and oral presentations. Students, faculty and staff on campus can participate in-person as well as share their research virtually.

URD is an opportunity to share one’s scholarship in a way that ensures accessibility to everyone — even those unfamiliar with the subject matter. Abstracts should reflect this, written with clear, non-technical language that is geared for ALL people. Examples of past selected abstracts are available here. Submitted abstracts will be judged by members of the URD Planning Committee and selected presenters will be notified by email.

Look for more information on social media from our hashtag, #CUatResearchDay and from this website including important dates, the format for the presentations, and the link to the application form. In addition, the names of the current planning committee members are listed on the website, should you have specific questions. See University Research Day 2022 presentations here.

Abstracts: If you are interested in presenting a paper, poster, or interactive demonstration, please complete the abstract submission form. Abstracts must be received by January 24, 2023 at 5 p.m., to be considered. Submissions received after that date will not be reviewed.

The lunch hour features live musical performances in the Pryz and a variety of food trucks.

When is the awards ceremony?

As in past years, awards will be given for the best student oral and poster presentations at the awards ceremony in Heritage Hall (Father O’Connell Hall). Finalists will be listed on the Research Day website by 4:00 on April 7th. Annual Faculty Research awards and the First Year Experience Essay award will also be announced at the ceremony. All are invited to attend.

Share University Research Day with Others!

In addition to celebrating the great and inspiring research going on at Catholic University, the online format of this event enables family and friends from outside the University to participate! Feel free to share this post with your friends and family.

Thanks to the Research Day Planning Committee, the Web Services Department, and all in the University who have helped to plan this event. We are looking forward to having everyone join us on campus and online for an exciting University Research Day!

University Research Day Call for Abstracts

As a member of the 2022 University Research Day Committee, I would like to share the following announcement with you:

University Research Day

University Research Day (URD) at The Catholic University of America is a day when students, faculty and staff come together to celebrate, share and learn about the innovative and exciting research taking place at the University.

URD showcases the work of hundreds of students, faculty, and staff.  (Explore last year’s award winners and programs). This year, URD will take place on April 7, 2022.

We are pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts. Abstracts will be due January 28, 2022.

We would like to encourage ALL members of the Catholic University community to submit abstracts. This includes both campus-based students, staff and faculty, and those at other locations (e.g. Rome campus, online programs).

URD 2022 includes opportunities for oral presentations, posters and interactive research demonstrations (e.g. architectural model, short dramatic performance, etc.). Research includes anything that falls under “scholarly work”; for example, a project you worked on with a faculty member, a recent presentation you gave at a professional meeting, scholarly paper, dramatic or musical performance, or display of art, etc.

At URD, participants present their scholarship in a way that ensures engagement with everyone — even those unfamiliar with the subject matter.

Abstracts should reflect this and be written with clear, non-technical language that is geared toward ALL people. Examples of abstracts are available on the URD Abstract Submissions page. Members of the URD Planning Committee judge the submitted abstracts and selected presenters will be notified by email in March.

Look for more information on the URD website. You will find important dates, the link to the abstract application form, presentation formats and more. Follow us on social media at #CUatResearchDay.

Questions? Reach out to us at or to any of the current URD committee members.

Submit your abstract by January 28, 2022 at 5 p.m.

Thank you. We look forward to another exciting University Research Day!
